Our own grinder is the perfect middle size and features blocky teeth that don't smush the herbs while they cut.
Vaporbrothers had difficulty with CNC grinders in the past and wanted to improve the action. Knife shaped teeth didn't seem to cut through herbs well, no matter how sharp they were. They sure weren't comfortable to touch with your hands. VB realized the way to break up herbs is not by knifing the material, but sheering it between rectangular teeth. The old way attempted to dice the herb with a sharp edge, but ended up compressing most of it as the teeth passed each other. VB's grinder with its blocky teeth does not squeeze the herb at all.
A local brand named Santa Cruz Shredder made excellent designs in this regard although they moved their production out of America and suffered significant delays over the last two years.
Another nice touch is that the blocky teeth won't cut you as the old grinders could.
VB made a small run of these grinders about a decade ago, but decided at the time that they should focus on developing their vaporizer instead. This new batch works great and we are all proud of how it came out!
