Buying a Cheap Magic Flight Vaporizer: Buyer Beware

There's a very old and overused quote that goes something like this: "you get what you pay for". At times that quote couldn't be truer when purchasing from an online auction site.

I've been a fan of Oakley Sunglasses for years now since a friend gave me my first pair. They look good, protect my eyes, hold up through much abuse (I've been wearing my current pair since 2004), and Oakley has excellent customer service. At one point I needed to replace a set that I thought were lost. I headed over to a popular online auction site where I found one seller selling Oakleys for a very low price. Too good to be true and it turns out it was. When my new sunglasses arrived I quickly realized what I received was Fauxkley not Oakley despite the name on them.

Turns out there are a number of sellers on that same auction site selling the portable Magic Flight Launch Box Vaporizers at super low prices. At a quick glance these portable vaporizers appear to be the real deal but a closer look shows something very different. First starters, Magic Flight manufactures their high quality Launch Box vaporizer in San Diego, California not in China. The Magic Flight Vaporizer and it's accessories are packaged in a slick black tin with the Magic Flight logo screen printed onto the top lid. The fake Magic Flight Vapes are packed in a similar tin but have a sticker on top with the company's logo.

Assuming you purchased a real Magic Flight Vaporizer, packed inside the tin should be either a white or black (all of our recent shipments have been black) battery charger with the Magic Flight logo printed on the charger (prior to 2011 this was not the case). If the charger has Sanyo or any other name on it, chances are you purchased a counterfeit Magic Flight.

During 2012 and the early part of 2013, Magic Flight used Powerex batteries for their Launch Box vaporizer. Despite the label being peeled off the battery, Powerex should still be listed on the battery. In 2013, Magic Flight started using their own batteries (marked HL-AAN2200 1241-LX) with the Magic Flight logo printed on the battery cap and etched on the bottom of the battery. These are quality batteries and are crucial for the vaporizer performing properly.

The other major giveaway is the serial number missing from the back of the vaporizer. All Launch Box vaporizers from Magic Flight have the serial number etched into the upper right hand corner on the bottom of the vape. Without a serial number Magic Flight will not honor their excellent lifetime warranty.

Magic Flight uses quality wood: Maple, Cherry, or Walnut to produce their portable vaporizers. One of the main problems with knock-off vaporizers is the use of cheap and potentially unsafe materials. Don't get burned by a knock-off.
