Accuracy of K-Type thermocouples: +-2.2C
Accuracy of the reading varies most with how well the tip of the thermocouple connects thermally with the surface you are measuring. Push with light pressure or hold in place with a non conductive surface (like the end of a wooden skewer). Pushing too hard causes other electrical effects that screw up the reading. Better version with glass handle makes it easier and safer to take a reading against a hot surface. Uses heavy wall borosilicate (Scientific glass). We also tested this version in real conditions.
Take care not to break the fine wires of the thermocouple. You are able to bend them as you like, as long as it's not repeated bending.
Reads Celsius. Ask Google to convert to Fahrenheit. Or use these equations:
Temp in F = 9/5 * [Temp in C] + 32
Temp in C = ( [Temp in F] - 32 ) * 5 / 9
