Silver Surfer and Da Buddha Vape Oil Kits Refreshed

Have you ever wanted to use concentrates or extracts with your DBV or SSV vaporizers? Good news, 7th Floor Vapes recently refreshed the Essential Oil Kits for both the Da Buddha and their flagship vaporizer, the Silver Surfer. The new EOK 2.0 Kits are visually streamlined and performance enhanced allowing you to convert your DBV or SSV into a safe and easy to use e-nail.

The 7th Floor Vapes EOKs offer an easy solution for changing out the existing glass heater cover and replacing it with the EOK cover. The bulbous glass cover found on the original oil kits have been slimmed down. The new design allows for better distribution of the air flow's heat for improved performance.

The old marble cap gives way to a new two piece glass vapor cap. This cap is a combination cap and load tool that allows you to dab while you cover the heater. While I haven't broke mine yet, the glass load tool is thin and feels very fragile. I have to admit to liking the visual color aspect of the old marble cover but the new glass cover is much more effective for maintaining heat and improving air flow.

The new design also allows you to switch between using oil or dry leaf without the need to switch out the glass heater cover. The SSV model includes a glass cap when using the Essential Oil Kit with dry leaf. Don't forget to dial the heat down when using dry leaf to avoid combustion.

Another change for the SSV EOK is the ground glass joint has been replaced with the spherical tip for better control. A Hands Free Attachment is included with Silver Surfer Oil Kits.

Let's face it concentrates are messy, 7th Floor has included a pack of Tidy Tips cotton swabs to help keep your glass clean and shiny. VaporWarehouse recommends using 91% or high isopropyl alcohol (not included) in addition to the Tidy Tips.

The end result is a simple way to convert your Da Buddha or Silver Surfer vaporizer into an effective way to vape concentrates.

How to Unlock a Vape Pen

To unlock your vape pen: rapidly (we mean fast!) press the button until it flashes.

In this post we will examine how to lock and unlock a vape pen like the Vaporbrothers Dabbler vaporizer used in the video below.

One of the most common mistakes customers make when they contact us about their vape pen not working is they either forgot or were unaware that the vaporizer is locked.

Every vaporizer pen should be in the locked position when we ship it to the customer. The lock position helps to prevent the battery from turning on while in transit. This is also an important feature when carrying your pen in a purse or bag.

After receiving your vaporizer, test to see if the pen is locked or unlocked. You can do this by pressing the button once. If the button lights up while it is pressed, the pen is unlocked. If you press the button and there is no light, the pen is locked or needs a charge.

To unlock the vape pen rapidly (we mean fast!) press the button 6 or more times until the button flashes.

Disregard any set number of presses you may read in the instructions. If you do not have the timing or the rhythm down or skip a beat, this will alter the number of times you need to press the button. I just press the button until it flashes.

Once the button flashes, the pen should be in the unlocked position and the button should light when held down.

To lock the pen, simply follow the same instructions as unlocking the pen. Once the button flashes, the pen should be in locked position and the button will not light when pressed down.

So please don't panic when you first get your pen and the button doesn't light when pressed. Your vapor pen is working just fine, it's in the locked position.

Vape Pen History in the Making

Legend has it that in 2008, Utopia Plantia Technologies (formerly known as THC Scientific and Warp 9 Technologies) released what was arguably one of the first vape pens designed for wax and concentrates that didn’t require the use of glycerin. Their flagship vapor pen was christened as the Omicron setting the stage for numerous products to be with named after themes from the popular cartoon series Futurama.

For many years the Omicron vape pen, along with it’s powerhouse brother the Persei, reigned supreme as the elite portable vaporizers for extracts and concentrates. As technology improved the market became crowded with smaller, thinner vape pens. While not as versatile or powerful as the Omicron and the Persei, the lower price point and stealth of the compact pens appealed to more users. UP Tech answered the call of that market with various vape pens like the O-Phos, Omicron Lite, and Minicron vaporizers.

At the vapor forum, Fuck Combustion, the trackable history of the Omicron begins on Sept. 16th, 2011 with an introduction to the Omicron V2 by Gary Bay, founder of UP Tech. From the photos in his first post the Omicron V2 prototype is more akin to what would later become the Persei. When the Omicron V2 finally hit the market it was slimmer and gone was the passthrough charge feature.

Unlike the current model, the Omicron V2 was powered by a single, rechargeable 14650 IMR battery. The microprocessor was placed in the screw on head that also housed a 601 thread mod base for the various attachments that would soon follow.

The included 2.4 ohm extract cartridge could be filled with between 0.5 to 1.0 grams of thick oils or wax extracts making the Omicron a popular choice for people not wanting to constantly reload a cartridge. The flavor and performance these carts provided were unrivaled at the time they were released.

The drawbacks to the extract carts was the difficulty to fill, not quite being able to tell when the wax was finished, and leaking if not stored in the proper position. Experienced users overcame the drawbacks and still prefer these carts to the current skillet heaters.

But for the majority of vape pen users looking for an easier method, UP Tech created their own skillet heater called the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) cart in 2014. The K.I.S.S. Cart V1 was one of the first skillets on the market to use a ceramic rod in place of the traditional fiber wick and a titanium coil. But the K.I.S.S. carts sure looked a little silly sitting on top of the Omicron V2.5 and Persei.

A Vapor Legend is Reborn

Fast forward to 2016 and UP Tech has completely redesigned their classic vaporizer now known as the Omicron V4. The revamped Omicron V4 base is shorter, wider, and more robust than the previous versions. This new model will blend in discreetly with all the other mod e-liquid vaporizers commonly seen in public.

Available in three different styles: LD 900mAh, MD 1400mAh, and HD boasting 2100mAh, the Omicron has a much longer battery life between charges than the V2’s 600mAh when used with the 14650 IMR battery. The only drawback to the new base is that the battery is not replaceable like the former versions but don’t let that deter you from this powerful portable vape.

The new battery bases now house a micro usb port and the more popular 510 thread mod top. The change to 510 threads opens the doors for using many different attachments without the need for a thread adapter like past models, except of course if you want to use older UP Tech heaters. Gone are the K.I.S.S. and extract carts (although still available). Welcome the KISS Alpha Centauri Cartridge, a versatile cart that unlocks the full power of the sub-ohm Omicron V4.

Starlight, Star Bright

Alpha Centauri is not just the nearest star system to our solar system, it's also the latest style of KISS cartridge heaters. And like it's namesake, it shines bright.

At a quick glance the KISS Alpha Centauri Cartridge appears to beefed a globe style heater but don’t let appearances fool you. With the addition of a cooling section and matching Omicron finish, the KISS Alpha Centauri Cart that is included with the Omicron V4 differs from the one sold individually.

The KISS Alpha Centauri Cartridge features two tops: a solid stainless steel cover and a thick borosilicate glass cover. The bottom of the heater base has three cooling layers that allow for air flow between the heater and battery, helping to protect the sensitive electronics.

The KISS Alpha Centauri heater included with the Omicron V4 features dual titanium grade 2 coils and black ceramic cores. Other heaters for the Alpha Centauri include a single titanium grade 2 coil with black ceramic core, a dual titanium grade 2 coils with quartz rods, and the 1701 ceramic donut that is wick free and coil free.

The Omicron V4 base has 4 different power settings that can be changed with 3 clicks of the button: 10w (yellow), 13w (pink), 16w (green), and 19w (blue). The Omicron V4 can easily power e-juice tanks like the Kanger SUBTANK Mini that requires a sub-ohm battery.

Finally the finish on the Omicron V4 appears to more more like a dark charcoal than the jet black finish found on the V2 and V2.5s. The stainless steel body is also thicker and higher quality than the previous models, giving the Omicron V4 a nice, hefty feel.

What the heck is a Monocled MFLB?

Why it's the sweetest little dry herb vape this side of the Steam Punk River! You know, the river that time has forgotten and art has prevailed. Where wood and brass can be free to serve as a beautiful vaporizer as well as a bauble to feast ones eyes upon.

The Magic Flight Launch Box (MFLB) has been around for years and was one of the first (if not THE first) portable herb vaporizers that truly vaporized. A simple concept kept simple until now. Adding the steam punk artisan-crafted top lid has reignited my old passion for this little wooden box. It gives it a touch of mystery and romance.

Most other portable vapes for herb exist in a world of electronics, metal armor and Chinese imports. But not Magic Flight vaporizers and especially not the Monocled MFLB. The Monocle lives in a world of enchantment, love and nature. I say nature because you can drop this thing in a river (even the Steam Punk River) and it will most likely live to vape another day.

Let's take a look at the how's and what's of this vaporizer...

Look and Feel

The MFLB is a little wooden box. Simply designed to do one thing and do it well - vape herbs! Compared to other fancy pants vapes out there, at first glance the Launch Box can look a little, well, primitive. The battery juts out making it the obvious power source.

The wooden box is small enough to be discreet while still holding enough herb to vape a couple sessions. One of the best parts of this vape is the kit which includes a tin that holds all you need and more. I’m always amazed how much extra stuff and herb stash can fit in the little MFLB tin, it’s an easy companion with it’s own space.

Ease of Use

Simplicity is the name of the Launch Box game. It’s simple to use. Push in the battery when you want it to vape, stop pushing the battery when you’re done hitting. Sipping your hit will go a long way when using the MFLB. Lighter, smooth hits are had with the Launch Box.

After each session it is highly recommended to use the included MFLB Brush to sweep out left over herb material. The screen is not replaceable but it is included in the stellar Magic Flight warranty should anything happen to the screen, you’re covered. Overall you don’t really need to worry about the screen. Note it may turn dark over time but this is normal.

Different types of MFLB Stems are available. One glass stem is included. Or you can be a savage and take your hit directly from the wooden box using no stem, to each his own!

Battery/Session Time

Two special brass colored batteries are included with the Monocled MFLB and the batteries last a fair amount of time. The Magic Flight website gives a rather conservative estimate on what to expect from their batteries saying one battery supports one load and one trench load gives about 4-8 draws. I have found the batteries last quite a bit longer than this but I love a good low expectation and then it being exceeded.

In my experience one fully charged battery will last 2-4 sessions (or full trenches) and I get about 5-10 draws per trench full as long as I’m sipping lightly as prescribed. It’s highly suggested to grab an extra pack of Magic Flight batteries. Magic Flight has sourced the best batteries for their vaporizers and I trust they know what’s good. If you are in a pinch, you can strip the outer plastic coating off other brands of batteries but they must be AA NiMH rechargeable with 2000 mAh capacity or greater (repeat, take off any plastic coating).

The Magic Flight batteries take about 4 hours to fully charge from empty and can recharge about 500 times if treated well. Be sure to use the rubber end cap provided for the batteries! If the battery comes in contact with metal it will start to heat up. I learned this the hard way. You do not want your battery to come in contact with any loose change in a purse or pocket. HOT!

Versatility

Herbs are from mother nature, and should be treated with respect. The MFLB Monocle does just that. It provides a beautiful sanctuary for those finely ground up herbs in a cozy trench, and then vaporizes them to the perfect slightly popcorn taste us herb vapers know so well.

The Magic Flight Launch Box is a vape for herbs. If you wan to use it to vape extracts, grab a Magic Flight Concentrate Tray. With the concentrate tray you can vape extracts with the MFLB but we suggest using it in conjunction with the Magic Flight Power Adapter to keep the strain on the batteries to a minimum. The Power Adapter allows you to plug into a wall outlet for unlimited power (*muahahahaha*evil power hungry laugh).

Portability

Magic Flight only makes portable vaporizers and they do it well. The MFLB Monocle fits in the palm of my hand, and I have rather small hands. All you need to vape on the go is included in the aforementioned tin of awesomeness. It’s one of my favorite dry herb vapes because it has it’s own carrying box, making it very portable.

Heat Up Time

Instant! You insert the battery into the MFLB and voila! Contact is made! Let the conduction and sipping begin!

Flavor/Taste

The MFLB is known for crisp, clean vapor flavor. It is not known for big vapor cloud production. Although, if the stars are aligned and the herb is right you can get some knock-you-on-your-tushie hits.

Durability

Now don’t come to me if your MFLB experiences a Steam Punk River dunking and doesn’t survive the night. I heard from a guy who knows a guy who dunked their MFLB in a river and it is working to this day. So the river claim might be an old vape wives tale, but I like it. And the science behind the simple design does lend itself to durability.

The Launch Box is a solid little box and adding the Monocle feature doesn’t really make it any more delicate. The brass is of good quality and the lens is a thick optical grade. It feels solidly built.

The same Monocled top piece can also be found on the Muad’Dib Concentrate Box. If you’re looking to use your vape with extracts or oils, we highly recommend the Muad’Dib. I say get both and start a little steam punk ganja club (and invite me please!).

Warranty

Magic Flight wants the Launch Box working and in your hand for enjoyment. I know this because it shows in their generous Lifetime Functional Warranty policy. They are quick to repair your vaporizer if anything should happen to the box, screen, or heating element after normal use. Must be a real MFLB, obviously. Fake MFLB’s do exist so be sure to buy from a trusted vaporizer store like this very website!

We love this pen. Yes, we may be a bit biased as we have been a sister company to Vaporbrothers since 2002. However, our customers have rated the VB11 vape pen 4.85 out of 5 stars. So apparently we aren’t the only ones loving this pen, and Vaporbrothers went and made it better!

What’s new with the pen?

11:11 More Than Just Wishes

The people who make up the company of Vaporbrothers, upon meeting them, you can tell they are in this industry because they love it. They truly care about providing the most quality vaporizers on the market. They take their time with releasing products and thoroughly test and ruminate over every detail of the product development process. This is apparent with their classic box style vaporizer, which is still a best seller for us here at VaporWarehouse, as it has been for years.

So when they were developing a new pen, we were very excited to see what love child would be born next and now that the Vaporbrothers Eleven Pen is here, we are very excited!

Now... let’s talk about the name!

It’s no coincidence that we chose 11/11 to officially announce the Eleven Pen. We wanted to bring awareness to this significant number, a number that is associated with Enlightenment, Awakening and Visualization. It’s amazing how many theories exist regarding the 11:11 significance.

Some believe if you see this number sequence following you around you are on the brink of a spiritual awakening. Some go as far to suggest 11:11 is a pre-encoded trigger placed into our cellular memory and seeing 11:11 acts as confirmation we are on the right track. Whatever “right track” means is obviously going to vary extensively from person to person, as does the meaning of 11:11.

After reading about various meanings, I have come to the conclusion that 11:11 is a time to reflect on what has been, and visualize what will be. To “make a wish”, as you will. I believe it is very appropriate that something as simple as a vaporizer pen could be associated with Enlightenment, Awakening, and Visualization. It is a vessel enabling elevated understanding of universal connectedness, of breaking down old thought patterns and seeing things for what is and what could be. But again, this is my interpretation. I just hope the Eleven Pen acts as a catalyst for Enlightenment, Awakening and positive Visualization within all who use it for higher understanding.

Maybe I’m putting too much expectation on what the Vaporbrothers Eleven Pen can do for humanity? But stranger things have happened :)

Custom Etching Services Now Available

We have a laser! So cool!

It can do serious custom detail work on wood, acrylic, leather and some other materials we have not yet tried (but would be willing). It's a CO2 Laser which means it does not etch on metal, so keep that in mind.

We have had great success etching wood, especially on the Vaporbrothers Box Vaporizer. You can opt for the pictured Vaporbrothers font on the side(s), top, or both. We will also gladly take your custom art idea or file and make it reality for you. We have even done some portraits on wood from photographs that turned out really nice.

Etching has been a regular occurrence on our Acrylic Grinders with the VaporWarehouse logo, and the Magic Flight Launch Box has seen some action with the laser as well.

My VB2 Love Affair

VaporWarehouse is a sister company to VaporBrothers, or should I say brother company? Either way, I had the pleasure to test out the long-awaited VaporBrothers VB2 while it was still in development. He sat on my kitchen counter for months and delivered strong, clean, powerful hits of concentrated material. I fell in love.

I say “he” because the VB2 has quite a personality considering he’s an inanimate object. He sits there, unassuming and utilitarian, a cross between R2D2 and a crock pot. He is as industrious as R2D2 and as reliable and easy to use as a crock pot.

The VapeXhale Cloud EVO-lution Continues

EVO is for Evolution. To us here at Vaporwarehouse, evolution is a good thing. It usually means you have been learning, adapting and changing for the better (hopefully). The people over at VapeXhale are constantly evolving for the better as their newest VapeXhale Cloud EVO vaporizer keeps evolving to exceed expectations.

When the Cloud EVO first came to market it was for dry herb with EZ Load Bowls and used with a dry mouthpiece. This is a very enjoyable way to use the VapeXhale Cloud EVO. You can even take the dry mouthpiece off and use the EVO in the down stem of your favorite water pipe instead of combusting in the traditional bowl. The all glass air path and versatility of the standard EVO configuration are reasons enough to invest in this unique vaporizer solution.

However, it has evolved since late last year to add the VapeXnail, allowing for concentrated material, and can be used with a custom Swagger Glass Hydratube. Vaporwarehouse Believes in Bitcoin

Bitcoin brings down costs

Recently we had an order that was charged back. The order was shipped to the billing address on the card and it matched with the contact information the merchant processor had on file. The IP address was traced back to the same city and the phone number matched as well. This customer disputed the charge and somehow won the dispute. So now we paid to ship our product to this customer for them to steal it from us. This is a rare case but it is something not possible when Bitcoin is used. We have to incur this loss and these costs are are eventually passed down to the customers by requiring higher prices to operate. Additionally our merchant processor charges us around 3% total for our type of business to take credit cards, where Bitcoin payments can be sent for as little as 0.05%. If we were able to take only Bitcoin prices could instantly come down by 3% or more.

Updated Vaporbrothers Dabbler Ceramic Core Heater Review

Towards the end of last year Vape-Pen teased everyone by releasing an initial run of Ceramic Core Heaters for the portable Vaporbrothers Dabbler vaporizer pen. These heaters quickly sold out. Then all went silent while Vaporbrothers worked with Vape-Pen on issues relating to the performance of the Ceramic Core.

Most vapor pen companies use a wick made from cotton and other materials that will burn up if run dry and give off bad taste and odors. Vape-Pen‘s high quality glass fiber wick for the stock Vaporbrothers Dabbler heaters is non toxic and completely inert, eliminating any problem if the Dabbler is run dry. Unlike cotton based wicks, this glass fiber wick does not give off a bad taste or odor.

Currently the Dabbler Ceramic Core Heaters are only available as a "3-in-1". For those who might get excited at the term “3-in-1,” sorry it does not mean you can use oil, wax, and flower with this cartridge. Instead it refers to the three parts of the cartridge: heater, cone, and mouthpiece. Let's take a look at all three parts starting with the heater.

To address customer concerns about using a wick of any sort, Vape-Pen replaced the glass fiber wick with a solid ceramic rod for the Ceramic Core Heaters. For this second round of Ceramic Core Heaters, the ceramic rod is slightly more porous than the initial batch. There is a trade off to having a rod instead of a wick, and that is a decrease in wicking action. The wick acts a bit like a sponge, absorbing oil, and delivering it to the coil. Keep in mind that fiber wicks are much better at this function than ceramic rods. To offset the decrease in wicking action, the ceramic rod is now set deeper into the bowl so that it can attract the oil to the heater more effectively.

Like the stock Dabbler heaters, the Ceramic Core Heaters employ a ceramic dish and Vape-Pen’s proprietary inconel wire coil wrapped around the ceramic rod. Unfortunately this coil, while a bit more rugged than the original design, still can be damaged easily, rendering the heater useless. Please use care when loading or cleaning the heater not to damage this coil.

Something else to note about the coil in the new Ceramic Core Heaters: It does not glow as bright as it does with the glass fiber wicks. This is not due to a change in resistance, but the amount of heat required to warm up the ceramic rod. It may even require a 10 second run on the button just to preheat the rod. So don't be alarmed when your coil doesn't glow as bright as it once did; your Vaporbrothers Dabbler vape pen is still fine. The lower temperature of Dabbler’s coil is one reason behind why Dabbler is a better tasting pen.

To increase airflow and ward off any problems if the ceramic core gets clogged by oil, a vent hole has been added to the cone to improve air circulation within the cartridge and help move the oil about. This is further aided by the hefty metal mouthpiece that doesn't restrict the airflow as much as the stock Dabbler mouthpiece. Just use a bit of caution when bringing this to your mouth so you don't chip those pearly whites.

The Ceramic Core Heater was designed as an alternative to the Glass Fiber Wick Heater. While some customers view this as an improvement, the performance of the Glass Wick Heaters can still rival that of the Ceramic Core Heaters. You now have a choice and we feel you can't go wrong with either choice.

Evolve with the VapeXhale Cloud EVO Vaporizer

Close to two years ago, I received an e-mail from Seibo, the CEO of VapeXhale, introducing his company and their vaporizer named the Cloud. I mistakenly thought he was selling one of the Cloud pen vaporizers and I attempted to brush him off. Being the gentleman and good businessman that Seibo is, he set me straight about the VapeXhale Cloud vaporizer.

As Seibo is a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, we made several attempts to meet up after our initial e-mail exchange. At the time we both had (and still have) young children at home. Coupled with Seibo holding down a day job elsewhere, our attempts to meet never happened.

At some point last year, King from Vapor Review Blog was pushing me to meet with Seibo and check out the updated Cloud vaporizer, now named the VapeXhale Cloud EVO. King explained that Seibo was concentrating all of his time to working with VapeXhale. Following King's advice I reconnected with Seibo and we set a date to meet us the warehouse.

We always approach every new vaporizer with a bit of skepticism and the Cloud EVO was no exception. As soon as Seibo set up the EVO it was clear that this was going to be an exceptional vaporizer. And indeed it was.

Seibo explained that the Cloud EVO has an all glass air path running through the center of the vaporizer. The glass vapor path, nicknamed "Bamboo", is not hidden and can be easily viewed through the top and bottom of the vaporizer. The Bamboo is not a straight tube but has some ridges in it, resembling stalks of bamboo. The Perputuheat System design creates turbulance and agitation of the air, allowing for better heat transfer and vaping at lower temperatures.

Speaking of temperatures, the Cloud EVO has a nice feature to allow you to know when the vaporizer has reached your desired heat. When first switched on and cool, the bamboo glass tube will glow red. When the EVO reaches the temperature it is set to the LED light will shift from red to green. A simple but effective way to know the EVO is ready for use.

A male 18.8mm ground glass joint tops the bamboo. This top piece serves as two functions: to hold the EZ Load Bowls and a place to attach the mouthpiece, Hydratube, or your own favorite water piece.

The EZ Load Bowls, or ELB, are used to hold the flower or dry leaf. Seibo even showed us how to use the ELBs for concentrates making the EVO that much more impressive (we will save that trick for another time). The ELBs are made from a fine stainless steel mesh to ensure effective, even vaporization.

Now one can question is this is this still an all glass vapor path if you have the air passing through metal? I immediately asked Seibo if they have plans to create an all glass or ceramic ELB to address this and he assured me something is in the works. For those of you concerned about off-gassing of stainless stain, most vaporizers (if not all) cannot reach the temperatures that can cause this.

Now onto the most impressive function of that 18.8mm ground glass tip: attaching the glass piece of your choice to deliver the vapor. Currently VaporWarehouse is offering the VapeXhale Cloud EVO with the Dry Hydratube (despite the term hydra this tube does not use water). The Dry Hydratube is an approximately 10" piece of curved borosilicate glass with a female 18.8mm opening to allow for attaching to the EVO to act as a mouthpiece.

VapeXhale also offers a selection of custom, high quality German borosilicate glass Hydratubes that allow for the ultimate water vapor experience. VapeXhale employs Swagger Glass to produce several of their Hydratubes for use with water that feature various percolators and diffusers.

Because the VapeXhale EVO does not need to be in the upright position to use, this allows one to use their favorite water piece in conjunction with the EVO. That is assuming that water piece has an 18.8mm female connection, like the Vaporbrothers Clear Precision Hydrator. Being able to use the EVO in any position allows for use with many different devices and possibilities.

And for those of you feeling like vaping in classic mode, you can use any 18.8mm vaporizer whip with the VapeXhale Cloud EVO.

As for performance, the VapeXhale Cloud EVO's Perputuheat System is not affected by thermal degradation. This provides for full, tasty vapor clouds wether you inhale strong and fast or slow and steady. After several tests with Seibo, we can verify that the EVO does indeed provide stong, flavorful hits and lives up to VapeXhale's selling points.

Happiness is a Clean Vaporizer Pen

Our customers inspire many of our blog topics. And today's piece will address some of the customer issues we've been seeing that can be avoided with a little tender, love, care and some elbow grease.

Now that you have your vaporizer pen, like Vaporbrothers Dabbler by Vape-Pen, take some time to learn how to care and maintain your vape. These vapor pens will not last a week if you let them get all gunked up and any damage may void the warranty coverage.

Keep those contacts clean!

Never let any residue get onto either the heater contact or the battery contact. This is the quickest way to damage the battery and/or the heater. If residue gets onto the contact, when you screw the heater to the battery and hit the power button, the residue may act like glue causing the contacts to fuse together.

Once the contacts are fused together and you try to unscrew the heater most likely you will rip the center contact out of the battery. This may damage the red wire that connects the contact to the battery. If that happens, your battery will be useless and the warranty coverage void.

Use extra care when using either a glass tube or globe style heater with the battery as these tend to be a bit messier than the skillet style heaters.

If you find your contacts have some residue on them, clean the contact ASAP. Use a q-tip and 90% or higher iso alcohol. Lightly swab a small amount of alcohol on the contact. Use care not to let any spill over the sides of the contact as this may damage vital parts of the battery or heater. Repeatedly swab the contact until the contact is clean and free of any residue.

Keep those threads clean!

Getting any residue on the threads of either the battery or heater can cause the two pieces to get stuck together, especially if you don't use your vaporizer pen for a period of time. If you find the heater is stuck on the battery, turn on the vape-pen and hold the button down for 10 seconds and release and press again for another 10 seconds. This should soften up the oil and allow you to get the heater off the battery base.

Once the heater is off the base clean the threads using the same method as we described in cleaning the contacts. Use a q-tip and 90% or higher iso alcohol. Lightly swab a small amount of alcohol on the threads. Use care not to let any spill down the threads as this may damage vital parts of the battery or heater. Repeatedly swab the threads until the threads are clean and free of any residue.

Keep those heaters cleans!

A couple months ago my cousin contacted me for a new heater for her Vapor Brothers Dabbler vaporizer. I asked her if she was keeping her heater clean and she admitted she was not. When she stopped by to pick up a couple new heaters, I told her how to clean the heater (using the method described below). When I saw her again at Thanksgiving, she told me she cleaned her original heater and it was still working fine. Prior to cleaning the heater, she said it was so gummed up that she couldn't even see the coils glowing. A perfect example (and true story) of why you should keep your pen vape heaters clean.

If you regularly maintain your heater, cleaning it will not be such a chore. If your heater is very gummed up, it's going to take some time and patience.

Grab some of that 90% or higher iso alcohol (our local grocery store has 99%). If you have a spare lid, similar to the one found on the bottle of iso, pour a tiny amount of alcohol into the lid or small dish. Turn the heater upside down and repeatedly dunk the heater into the tiny pool of alcohol. The dunking method will help agitate the alcohol and pull the oil off the ceramic dish, coils, and wick.

Use care not to submerse the heater or allow the alcohol to rise above the ceramic dish level (when heater is upside down) to prevent the alcohol from damaging the vital parts of the heater.

If the heater is very dirty, after dunking you may have to lightly scrape some of the residue off the ceramic dish using a pick tool or even a paper clip. Use extreme caution to ensure you do not damage the coil and wick.

A Little TLC Goes a Long Way

Bear in mind that these type of vaporizers are not designed to last for years (the non-replaceable lithium battery will last at most two years). Following the above tips will help to ensure you get maximum use from your vaporizer pen and not void the warranty coverage. Show your vape pen a little love today and it might stick around a bit longer than expected.
